Abstract

This research focuses on the role of Education Cordinator in Greek schools abroad. We set out to assess the relative importance of the role's three formal dimensions -administrative, advisory, and mediating. We are also interested in the usefulness of the role and its prospects. Our data derived mainly from semi-structured interviews with active and former Education Coordinators as well as from institutional, formal documents. The results of the study confirm that the role of Education Coordinator does indeed encompass the three formally assigned dimensions. Our data also indicated that Coordinators contribute significantly to the success of Greek education abroad. Finally, our data reflected a high degree of agreement that the formal requirements of the Coordinator’s role need to be adjusted to align with contemporary social conditions.
