Compensatory education has brought controversial reactions. Many scholars and researchers in the field of Sociology of Education argue that it is necessary to ensure equality of opportunity for all students, while others are concerned that it may lead to stereotyping and segregation. However, the fact is that compensatory education and Compensatory Teaching (T.T.) in particular have been used in intercultural education policy in a variety of ways to promote equity and participation for all students. This research focuses on teachers' views on the factors that undermine the effectiveness of EC in secondary education and the factors that enhance the effectiveness and functioning of this compensatory programme in a multicultural context.
