In this paper, a research is conducted concerning the application and promotion of Critical Literacy in the Greek Primary school through the teaching of multimodal texts via ICT applications. A very important conclusion of the research was the great importance of the promotion and integration of students' critical literacy through the analysis of multimodal texts in the Greek Language course of the 6th Grade of the Greek Primary School (9th chapters &17th textbook chapters). Through the analysis of the texts it was found that there is some improvement from the past, but there are also considerable shortcomings. The researcher concluded that through socio-semiotic consideration many new possibilities arouse within the framework of multimodal teaching, especially in countries such as Greece, where - as a host country for immigrants - culturally or linguistically different populations aspire to learn literacy as a necessity through the challenges of the 21st century, contrary to traditional literacy approaches.
