Abstract

The aim of this research is to investigate the attitudes towards the environment of 461 Greek pre-service teachers studying in the Department of Pre- School Education in University of Ioannina. Results indicate that pre-service teachers have positive attitudes towards the environment, have ecocentric value system and also have strong environmental and social concerns at national and global level. Statistical analyses also shows that attitudes towards the environment depend on gender, high school course specialization, year of study and parents’ educational level. These findings are further discussed.
