Abstract

Jean Catsiapis in his article The Cyprus issue before the European Courts examines the most important decisions of the Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights, which evoke the consequences of the invasion of Cyprus by the Turkish army in 1974. He analyzes the decisions of European courts, which punish violations of international law by Turkey and its army at the expense of the Republic of Cyprus and its citizens. The author of this article highlights the legal battle of Cypriots, who for obvious reasons cannot lead an armed struggle against the occupying Turkish, intend to devote the primacy of international law whose purpose is to protect the weak states against the imperialism of strong states.
