There are thirteen (13) Regional Directories of Education in Greece. In each of the Directories there are Administrative Boards consisting of both ex-officio and elected members. The latter are elected by the teachers of each Directorate. This paper examines the views of 30 elected members of various Administrative Boards concerning the selection of Headmasters in Greek schools. More specifcally they express their opinion concerning the voting of teachers in the process of headship selection and the consequences that it has caused in Greek schools. The results show that elected members of the Boards consider the voting as rather problematic and express doubts about its effectiveness and the rationale behind it. Political models of educational management can be traced in the voting process.
