In recent years, there is an intense discussion regarding the impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on students’ academic performance. This scientific paper presents the design, application and assessment of an educational intervention aiming to evaluate the contribution of the use of Google Earth to elementary school students’ (6th Grade) academic achievement in Geography and Social and Political Education. The exploration of this relationship was based on a quasi-experimental research project having a control and an experimental group. The teaching treatment of the control group was based on conventional approaches, while Google Earth was used as intervention for the experimental group. The results revealed that the use of Google Earth had a positive impact on students’ learning.
