The present study aims to investigate the relationship between alexithymia and dyslexia in people between 9-16 years. According to the relevant literature on these two concepts is observed that factors important to the etiology of alexithymia are related to the symptoms of dyslexia.
The data collection was made through a questionnaire in two parties. The first part concerns the demographics of participants and the second consists the 20-items alexithymia scale of Toronto (TAS-20). The sample consists of 68 individuals (41 boys and 27 girls), where 30 of them have dyslexia.
The research revealed that alexithymia shows a strong relationship with dyslexia and its three-factorial structure. Finally, a rare frequency of meeting with friends increases the likelihood of developing alexithymia.
