About the Journal
THEATRE [ΘΕΑΤΡΟ] was a pioneering, innovative journal covering the whole range of performing arts, which was published from 1961 to 1981 by journalist, writer and publisher Costas Nitsos (1920-2015).
"Theatre", one of the most innovative and authoritative cultural journals on an international level, has been the main theatrical education journal in Greece. It is a collectible journal that gathers even today the interest of those who want to explore the historical, artistic and social conditions in which art was developed in the 1960s and 70s in Greece as well as in the rest of the world.
The heirs and holders of the intellectual and related rights of the late journalist, writer and publisher Kostas Nitsos, Efi Roditis Nitsos and Elisabeth Nitsos granted the Library of the University of Crete the permission to digitize all the issues of the historical journal and make it available on the internet under open access principles, for the benefit of knowledge and research, for personal, educational or research, non-profit / commercial use, in the memory of Costas Nitsos and in fulfilment of his desire to disseminate his work.
