Oι Ολυμπιακοί Αγώνες ως πεδίο δοκιμής και διάδοσης τεχνολογιών μαζικού ελέγχου και παρακολούθησης: Από το C4I των Ολυμπιακών της Αθήνας 2004 στην Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη των Ολυμπιακών του Παρισιού 2024

Το άρθρο αυτό παρουσιάζει την εξέλιξη των τεχνολογιών μαζικού ελέγχου και παρακολούθησης στους θερινούς Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες (ΟΑ) της πρώτης εικοσαετίας του 21ου αιώνα μετά την 11/9/2001, με έμφαση στους επερχόμενους ΟΑ του Παρισιού 2024. Συγκεκριμένα, αναφέρεται σύντομα στις χαρακτηριστικές τεχνολογίες Ολυμπιακής Ασφάλειας, δηλαδή στο C4I της Αθήνας 2004, στο ψηφιακό τείχος του Πεκίνου 2008, στον Ολυμπιακό φράκτη του Λονδίνου 2012, στο αερόστατο Simera του Ρίο 2016, και στην τεχνολογία αναγνώρισης προσώπου του Τόκυο 2020. Τέλος, δίνεται μεγαλύτερη έμφαση στις επικείμενες εφαρμογές Τεχνητής Νοημοσύνης (ΤΝ) στο Παρίσι 2024, όπως στην αλγοριθμική αναγνώριση προσώπου και στις προγνωστικές αναλύσεις μελλοντικής συμπεριφοράς, οι οποίες έχουν προκαλέσει πολλές αντιδράσεις. Αυτές νομιμοποιούν πλήρως τον «Καπιταλισμό της Παρακολούθησης» και εγείρουν σοβαρές ανησυχίες για τα δικαιώματα και τις ελευθερίες των πολιτών και μετά το τέλος των Αγώνων. Συνοπτικά, το άρθρο με κριτική παγκοσμιοτοπική ανάλυση επιδιώκει να τεκμηριώσει ότι οι ΟΑ, που ιδίως μετά την 11/9/2001 αποτελούν τις μεγαλύτερες διοργανώσεις ασφάλειας σε περίοδο ειρήνης, μέσα σ’ ένα καθεστώς εξαίρεσης που μονιμοποιείται, αποτελούν πεδία δοκιμής, βιτρίνας - επίδειξης και προώθησης σε παγκόσμια κλίμακα των τελευταίων τεχνολογιών ασφάλειας και παρακολούθησης. Γι' αυτό, λαμβάνοντας υπ’ όψιν και το τεράστιο κόστος τους, η διοργάνωση των ΟΑ δεν είναι πλέον ελκυστική, και αναπτύσσεται ο προβληματισμός για καθαρούς εναλλακτικούς ΟΑ.
