Loukis Akritas’ Kampos and Ethographic Narrative Realism
Abstract
During the 1930s, Athens-based Loukis Akritas tackles more complex narratives, as in The Plain (1936), drawing his inspiration from social narratives of the Hellenic and world litterature. Using realistic techniques, he tries to exploit intense confrontations of Cyprus’s rural life, bringing them to a pitch, as in the case of Konstantinos Theotokis, the protagonist of Life and Death of Kavarelas (1920).
