Abstract

The study of social and emotional development falls within the broader area of study of human intelligence. In the past several years, these areas of development have become a part of what has come to be called "Emotional Intelligence. "This paper presents a brief historical overview of the study of intelligence with specific references to the concepts and theoretical points of view that are deemed to be important in the development of this new domain of study within the field of intelligence. The issues and controversies that have thus far immerged in the literature are also cited and referred to.
