Abstract

The main purpose of this essay is to detect and demonstrate the difficulties that faced the educators who worked in small multigrade schools, depending on how difficult each educator considered these schools to be, and also depending on a series of demographic and other variables. Two hundred and fifty-two educators of the primary and secondary education of the Peloponnese Region participated in this survey. The collection of the data was made via self-administered questionnaires. The extensive analysis of factors revealed three main categories of difficulties: In the first category we can notice the difficulties which are a result of the educational function of the school. In the second category we find the difficulties which the educators face because of the school’s location and in the third and final category we can find the difficulties which are related to the school’s administrational policy. Most of the educators admit that they faced the difficulties which are mentioned above. We also don’t have significant statistic differences between these variables, at least between the first two of these categories of difficulties, which are mentioned above. This survey can be used by the official bodies/institutions in order to face these difficulties via targeted actions.
