Comprehension of options of Metaphor in schoolbooks

METAPHOR is a common cognitive process which is reflected οη language. The present paper relates linguistic theory οn metaphor to language education. It focuses οn options of metaphor found in Modern Greek language books. Analysis of language data οn these textbooks establishes four distinct options of metaphor. Research οn the comprehension of the four options of metaphor by fifth and sixth grade students of primary education indicates that not all options of metaphor are easily comprehended.
