Manolis Anagnostakis’ relationship with football and the social implications of the sport has been complex and generally positive. Anagnostakis’ football essays, his poetic writings, as well as his autobiographical texts are examined. These texts demonstrate the author’ s love for football, his experiential relationship with the sport, some negative aspects of football as a social phenomenon, but also the promotion of football practices, such as transfers, in the political field. Especially the text “Transcriptions with ... ‘promising’ “ functions as a satire of political morals and the political behavior of specific people and parties. Generally, the literal work of Manolis Anagnostakis is multifaceted. It is characterized by critical acuity, political and social charge and existential deepening. Even today, it has the potential to trouble, move and overturn established “certainties”. His football writings also contribute to this, which confirm that Anagnostakis as a writer and as an intellectual was not only sensitive but also unpredictable, that is, in essence highly poetic.
