Paysages de Macédoine

Abstract

This article presents the results of a study carried out by a group of researchers (Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes a Paris) regarding the history of landscapes of Macedonia from the last decades of the Middle-Age to the present. The research discussed in the context of this article paves the way toward the study of the peasant society and the agrarian economy of the region. The results of this research have been based on data obtained through field study and have been completed with the collection of a large number of testimonies of individuals who travelled throughout the region since the beginning of the 16^th century.
