Abstract

This article seeks to demonstrate that international law, as is has been practiced and , more particularly, according to the conventions on the delimitation of the continental shelf, leaves no doubt whatsoever that islands, like continental parties, have the right to their own complete continental shelf. International jurisprudence also agrees on this point. This legalistic demonstration justifies Greece’s looking for a solution to its dispute with Turkey by judicial means’ whereas Turkey wants political negotiation because of its weak argumentation. It is obvious that Turkey is seeking to create situations contrary to international law and the international practice of states through a policy of force in the Aegean.
