Les Périodes de Détente Politique dans les Relations Greco-Turques
Abstract
After the European Council met in Helsinki, the reaction of Turkish politicians revealed a blend of fear and pride. The expected economic and democratic advances explain why a pro-European attitude is shared by two-thirds of the population. Nevertheless there is an important fringe among the public opinion who is indifferent to Turkey’s European orientation and even could be declared hostile under promotion of themes concerning the country’s territorial integrity and national unity.
