The Misanthrope of Menander and of Molière

The article examines Menander’s Dyskolos in parallel with Molière’s Misanthrope, regarding the theatrical genre, the heroes, the sources of humor, the political and the philosophical background, the position of women and the point of view of each poet on his own “misanthrope”.
