This paper examines the figures of the Asia Minor refugees, as represented in the plays by Iakovos Kambanellis. It examines three plays of his overall dramatic oeuvre in which refugees or children of refugees of the Asia Minor Catastrophe appear: The Courtyard of Miracles, The Age of Night and The Neighborhood of Angels. The central idea of the paper is that Kambanellis, even when he is not naming his characters as refugees, draws inspiration from the Asia Minor identity to develop his characters belonging to the working-people strata, while linking the Asia Minor refugee identity with the communist left.
